Activity Plan for Those Who Lost Their Jobs

Author: Denis Glover

The fear of losing the job is present within everyone who has more or less lengthy experience working. What should a person do when a fear becomes reality? Depression and tears are not the way out and will not be helpful in this situation. The wise decision is to establish a new strategic plan of action. The direction of the last depends on the aims and goals you put before you.

When you get lost after having such an attack on your self-motivation, it is high time to get out in the open market of jobs and phone your former competitors. Avoid calling the personnel department or send curriculum vitae via e-mail, but make a bee line and contact the head of the company assuring that you are an excellent candidate for the position of whoever you were at your former place of employment. Try to present yourself as positively as it is only possible. Make sure that you are not taken advantage over by your potential employer, because a failure on the previous job may result to the decrease of the level of self-esteem and the employer may use it. The research, done by psychologists, shows that the success depends on the experience. The more working places you have behind the bigger chance to establish the career growth. Results of the research show that those who change work have more chances to be promoted than those who work in one company all their lives. Seek the position in the close spheres. You being an experienced employee will certainly be appreciated by the potential employer and create additional opportunities for you to study and catch up with the standards easier than a fresh man on board. Dont be afraid to look for a job in companies that are not considered to be major ones. They may be small but fast growing that offers certain career opportunities. This variant fits best if you are getting over exhausted by the tempo of work in a giant company. Waiting for years for an excellent proposal is not a logical decision. If you are in a desperate need of money and at least some employment, you are to decide, whether to become a freelancer or get a job that is completely irrelevant to what you have recently done. Some companies are interested to employ on contract basis. This makes the employee responsible for each type of project, which contributes clarity into the system. This will let you manage your own time and leave time to search for a full-time job.

Working part-time is only good for covering the bills. It does not really matter if the work refers to some of your skills and experience on a full-time job. You need to make sure your financial status is secure right now; this is not the way your future career is going to develop. If you make enough money for a living, let this type of employment be stable for now, if not make sure you do not include this job into your resume, unless it adds more skills to the overall picture of your abilities.
