When looking at mattresses, one would probably consider the amount of coils are in the mattress in addition to the price. These two factors are probably the most popular considerations for most people. There are some nuances in the coil discussion that should be accounted for however. First of all, coil count isn't all that should be taken into consideration. You also need to account for the padding thickness as well which could make a mattress with fewer coils feel better than the opposite. For example if you had a mattress with more coils but thinner padding, it may not feel as comfortable as a mattress with less padding and less padding. With regards to coils, there are different elements that determine their attributes. First is the gauge or thickness of the wire within the coil. The lower the gauge the firmer the bed. Firm is generally considered better for sleeping. Other considerations include ticking or covers, lumbar supports, and any extra padding added to the pillow tops. In general you can do without these features (which are an added expense). But if you try it out and you like it then it may be suitable for you. It may be more pivotal in your purchase decision if you spend a lot of time on your bed whether for sleeping, reading a book or newspaper, or watching TV, etc. |
